City Cafe Diner *

City Cafe Diner is located on Drake Avenue next to Cracker Barrel and is open 24/7. Negative Nancy Alert!!! I have three words to describe the dishes we tried: Pre Packaged, Preservatives and Chaos. The decor is nice but that's about where the compliments stop. The waiters/waitresses were confused and had a hard time answering questions for us or the people around us. We tried a diner staple the meatloaf with gravy and mashed potatoes and also the mediterranean tour. Meatloaf: It was a pressed flat patty of meat like product covered with a pre-fab brown gravy and what could be the worst instant potatoes I have ever tasted. This dish was a fail on all points. It was also served with rice and vegetables. Mediterranean Tour: Moussaka, Spinich Pie and Lasagna are three of our favorite things but each was mediocre. The moussaka was okay but missed that distinctive flavor punch. The lasagna was okay. It didn't knock our socks off but was edible. The spiniach pie was good. The p

Recipes

I'm so excited about my new recipe section. I will be posting recipes and pictures of all the yummy things I make at home. I even plan on posting any disasters that may occur :) Let the adventure begin!

Sandwich Farm ****

I always thought that "life is like a box of chocolates" however, according to this eatery it's "like a sandwich, the more you add to it the better it gets". That's just one of the fun little sandwich themed cards on every table. Sandwich Farm uses fresh local ingredients to create a unique array of sandwiches. If you are watching your carbs you can get your sandwich on a bed of greens with a vinaigrette. There are 9 sandwich's to choose from including roast beef, braised pork, smoked fish, duck, turkey, chicken and bacon. Hubby and I chose the veggie and meatloaf to try. The veggie was piled with goat cheese, basil, roasted veggies and a tomato spread on toasted focaccia with a side of potato salad. YUMMY! My sandwich was delicious and the potato salad was homemade all for $6.95!!! The meatloaf sandwich had braised red cabbage, cheddar, bacon, horseradish mayo and a meatloaf patty. It was good but I must say we were both missing the twang of the meatloa

New Places

I'm excited for the weekend. I have several new restaurants to visit. I have several suggestions and I will begin with the Sandwich Farm. I love a good sandwich. Food is so funny. It can comfort us, help us celebrate and trigger memories. I hope everyone enjoys their week and indulge in something yummy!

Chipotle Mexican Grill **

Seems I'm on a Mexican kick! Chipotle Mexican Grill is located next to Earth Fare on University Drive. The decor is simple and the music is hip. I have heard great things about Chipotle from several friends and was very excited when one opened here recently. They use sustainable sourced ingredients and all their meat has no added hormones or antibiotics. It's the way food should be produced and prepared. I must say that I was very disappointed with our visit. The service was less than stellar with trash bins overflowing with messy tables and beverage area. The folks behind the counter were more involved with their own conversations and being snarky with one another. They just opened so they were very busy but so are a lot of places. I had a braised carnitas burrito bowl and Hubby had the barbacoa burrito. All I can say was that it wasn't the worst food I've ever had. The meat lacked flavor and the rice had several bits of uncooked pieces. We left a little sad and cravin

Lime Fresh Mexican Grill *****

Lime is located at Bridge Street Town Center across from the carousel. They use fresh ingredients for all their sauces, salsas and sides made on premises and you can tell. I had my doubts going in but the service was friendly and the food was delicious. We tried the Surfer Tacos with grilled fish, cabbage, pico and a yummy cilantro sauce. I really enjoyed the salsa/sauce bar. There are tons of choices from your standard pico de gallo to a super sweat-a-licious habanero salsa! If you need to cool down, they also have a selection of cervesa's and frozen libations such as sangria! There is something for everyone from chicken to vegetarian. The full menu covers soup, salad, burritos, quesadillas and even fajitas. I can't wait to go back and try the sopapilla's. I hear they are to die for. Fried pastry with cinnamon, sugar and agave nectar, bring on the coffin!
